Legal Career:
The legal field is a second career. She worked in communications and labor relations her entire working life. She started at Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph as a long distance operator in 1971 and was one of the first women in Montana to cross into non-traditional work in 1974 as she moved into the equipment installation group. She served as an Executive Board Member for the International Brotherhood Workers of America. Her unionist activities involved service as the State Treasurer, the Employee Health Care Liaison for Nebraska, Iowa, Montana and Oregon and contact bargaining. She left that work to take over management responsibilities for the Montana group of Qwest Technologies Installation in 1998. Two years later she was promoted and eventually managed work groups in as many as eight states. While working at Qwest, she volunteered as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for several years and enjoyed the legal forum. When she left Qwest Communications August 2004 after 33 years, 3 months and 7 days of service, she knew she wanted to do something different. She immediately began the Paralegal Program at the University of Montana and graduated in July 2005. She began working for Shandor Badaruddin in September 2005.
